Interview: Nick Cage

Welcome back to another of our interviews from the stars of CON AIR 2: THE EPILOGUE. This time we have Nicolas Cage, who we had as a guest speaker earlier. Welcome back, Nick.

Thanks. Great to be here. It’s a pleasure to talk about my greatest role to date.

What makes this role so special?

Many would argue that playing Cameron Poe in Con Air 1 was my best performance ever, and I would agree with them. It highlights my best aspects as an actor. Also, being Cameron Poe is almost as if I wasn’t acting at all. We’re so much alike in out personalities. It’s the Homestuck magic at play.

What kind of relationship does Cameron Poe have with his protege John Egbert?

Well, Michael Cera and I have this incredible energy between us and it definitely shows on the screen. John and Cameron are a powerful team. There’s one scene especially where they have this heartfelt conversation that you can see this in. People have cried in our test screenings. It’s so emotional.

I was under the assumption Steve Buscemi’s Garland Greene practically steals that scene.

Absolutely not. Why would you think that way?

Nevermind. Are there any updates on the harassment allegations that have been surfaced within the cast and crew?

The situation has not progressed in any way. When there’s something more to report, I think the news will come out in a more official way.

Lastly, do you have anything to say to the fans?

I hope you fans will enjoy the movie. It’s the union of Con Air and Homestuck that was always meant to be. It’s weird, and fairly random too. But it will change the world of movies forever, and many will fall love with Homestuck just as we have. It truly is the greatest fandom.

Thank Nicolas Cage for the interview, and thank you for reading. CON AIR 2: THE EPILOGUE in theaters 4th of April 2019, 24h streams on the 13th.

Man, look at how uninspired this update was. That’s probably because I never gave Nick much character. He’s more of a way to deliver jokes and information about the movie itself. At this point I had no good gags in mind about the movie left besides the actors talking about their own characters. Nick here plays his Con Air character, so there’s nothing actually funny for him to say about that. All he does is plant the seeds of doubt about Buscemi’s story.

I’ll take the opportunity here to address the “Nick”-issue. Some people have pointed out that it actually should be “Nic Cage”, not “Nick Cage”, because his name is Nicolas. I am aware. I decided to keep calling him Nick throughout the story because that’s what he refers to himself on the first page, because in Homestuck he’s Nick of Time. So clearly, it’s his preference. I really have no say in the matter.
