Interview: John Malkovich #2

Welcome back to another interview from the stars of CON AIR 2: THE EPILOGUE. John Malkovich has returned, bless him. Nobody else sane is coming to these interviews after the tragic death of Oscar Isaac.

Thank you. The loss of Oscar Isaac hits me very hard personally. The entire crew is mourning him. A tribute to his memory is being added to the movie.

Does this change the scheduling of the premiere?

Absolutely not. It will take place on 4th as planned.

Oscar Isaac plays one of John Egbert’s mentors in CON AIR 2. What do you think is the impact his role leaves on the movie?

Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron is absolutely irreplaceable for the integrity of the movie. You could say he’s the second-most important influence for John, as he deals with the loss of his father and the trauma which the sudden end of childhood left on him.

Second-most important? I would have though that’d be Cameron Poe or Garland Greene.

Why is that? Nick Cage as Cameron is certainly the closest one, being a true father-figure for Egbert. Garland is basically a side character.

Mr. Buscemi told me otherwise. According to him, Garland would overshadow the other two.

This is a lie. Why would Steve say such things? What else has he told you? I haven’t been keeping up with all of these interviews.

He said that his performance is outstanding and worth of an Oscar. He told us that the movie would begin with him being saved from Lord English’s possession attempt by John Egbert.

Nonsense. None of that is in the movie. Are you sure that he said that? Are you sure that it was Steve?

I don’t know who else that could’ve been.

I see. I need to go right now.

Yet again I’ve been left behind. Big thanks to John. See you later and thanks for reading. CON AIR 2: THE EPILOGUE in theaters 4th of April 2019, 24h streams on the 13th.

I guess nobody in-universe reads these interviews because it wasn't his obsession with Oscars or his agressiveness that exposed Lord Buscemi, it was his tendency to exaggerate his accomplisments. Perhaps Caliborn's original plan was to possess a movie star and earn the award legitimately, but unfortunately he just picked the actor in the most unimportant role.

And the way Malkovich figures it out is absurd. I think that's the way I prefer to write comedy. Even though there aren't so many jokes on the plot-heavy pages, the twists and turns of the plot are ridiculous enough to maintain the tone. Like, in the latter half of this story, there aren't as many actors describing Homestuck or their roles in funny ways, but the plot has Cyborg Malkovich fighting Dark Cage, Ben Stiller turning into Hella Jeff, Defender of the Universe, and Nick and Buscemi fighting over the Homestuck Epilogue movie reel and an Oscar statue brought here from another timeline by Donald Glover.
